Note from WBT's Wi-Fi Editor, Ron Dennis: Dexter Wimberly contacted me in response to a recent article of mine in Wireless Business & Technology. I share his interest in young people and wireless. I also share his dismay at the lack of vision in this area by American wireless companies. While many U.S. corporations waver in their trust of Wi-Fi's security, young people are adopting and appropriating wireless standards to enhance their recreational lives and the efficiency of their academic work. It's happening in several cities and on college campuses across the nation. Evidenced by this trend, and by American teens' sweeping impact on other tech industries, I believe that the youth market will champion the proliferation of Wi-Fi.
